Contact heat transfer between adjacent layers in super insulation.

Summary

Heat transfer in multilayer insulation (MLI) is governed by thermal radiation heat transfer between layers and by contact heat transfer between adjacent layers at the good vacuum condition. The authors proposed the analytical method of radiative heat transfer between the insulation films in MLI whose radiative transmissivity is not negligible. The contact heat transfer can be calculated by supposing the contact heat transfer coefficient between adjacent layers. Then, the thermal performance of MLI and the temperature of each insulation film can be calculated. By comparing the calculated results with the experimental data, the contact heat transfer coefficient can be estimated.
