Author(s) : BRUNDRETT G.
Summary
Recent awareness of ill health associated with buildings has highlighted the absence of hygiene in engineering education. Legionnaires disease has been a particular problem in Britain but sever remedial actions are providing a cure. 1. Increased knowledge of microbiology and epidemiology. 2. Education. Guidelines are now available from most professional bodies. 3. Training. Much effort is being spent on better training and manuals. 4. Legislation now requires a formal risk analysis and planned maintenance.
