Type of article: Article
Summary
The article describes the conversion of large ammonia compressors AO-600 and AKG-56 to lubrication-free operation. The design of pistons was changed for this purpose: steel welded and cast aluminium pistons of lightweight construction were developed. A procedure for placing supporting guide rings made of the materials AFG-80BC and F4K20 on a piston was developed. Comparative tests of seals and supporting rings made of these materials were carried out. As a result of the investigations, large ammonia refrigerating compressors AO-1200 217 without lubrication of cylinders and glands were developed, and their commercial production was started.
