Summary

The performance optimization of an irreversible air refrigeration cycle with the losses of heat leak, heat resistance and the internal irreversibility is carried out by taking the cooling load density as the optimization objective in this paper. The analytical relations about cooling load density and coefficient of performance of the cycle are derived. The effects of heat leak, pressure ratio and the allocation of heat exchanger inventory on the cooling load density of the refrigerator are shown by detailed numerical examples.
