Summary

The hybrid air conditioner, where air is cooled both by convection and radiation, is developed. The indoor unit of the air conditioner consists of a radiation panel and a dehumidification coil, where refrigeration R-134a is supplied by independent refrigeration cycles. The optimum refrigerant charge was 850 g for the radiation panel cycles and 750 g for the dehumidification cycle. The optimum evaporation pressure was 4.0 bars for the radiation panel cycle and 3.62 bars for the dehumidification cycle. The cooling capacity of the radiation panel was 1.01 kW and that of the dehumidification coil was 0.94 kW. The power consumption of the compressor was 0.65 kW, which yielded COP of 1.94.
