Cooling tower packing: effect of configuration on performance.

Author(s) : GOSHAYSHI H. R., MISSENDEN J. F., TOZER R.

Type of article: Article

Summary

Heat transfer coefficient decreased with increasing packing pitch and with increasing ratio of rib to rib height. Friction factors were expressed by a dimensional equation, which included pitch and distance between packings, for both smooth and rough surfaces. The relationship between packing heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop is deduced.
