Cooling tower packing: effect of configuration on performance.

Author(s) : GOSHAYSHI H. R., MISSENDEN J. F., et al.

Type of article: Article

Summary

Reports an experimental study on the effect of the form of corrugated packing on heat transfer and pressure drop. Heat transfer coefficient decreased with increased packing pitch, and with increasing ratio of rib pitch to rib height. Expresses friction factors versus pitch and distance between the packing, for both smooth and rough surfaces. Deduces the relationship between packing heat transfer coefficient and pressure.
