Summary
The success of high-temperature superconductors (HTS) applications strongly depends on the availability of appropriate cryocoolers. For cooling capacities up to about 15 W at 60-80 K, Stirling and pulse tube-Stirling coolers are the ideal choice. The challenge is to enhance the life span and to reduce costs. Present trends and technical solutions are discussed.
