Cryogenic plant design for Taiwan Light Source superconducting RF cavity operation.

Author(s) : LIN M. C., WANG C., LUO G. H., et al.

Summary

A helium cryogenic plant is being constructed at Taiwan Light Source to support a 500 MHz superconducting radio frequency (SRF) cavity module. This cryogenic plant will be dedicated to the operation of the SRF cavity module and be the first one to serve an accelerating SRF cavity module at a storage ring of a synchrotron light source. The design philosophy, special considerations and requirements on the cryogenic plant to achieve stable operation of the SRF cavity module, and important system parameters are provided for this 465 W at 4.5 K refrigeration or 100 litres/hour liquefaction system.
