Cryogenic thermoelectric coolers with passive high-critical temperature superconductor (HTSC) branches.

Summary

The authors discuss two aspects of making cryogenic thermoelectric cooling batteries with HTSC passive branches: fabrication of active thermoelectric branches from reinforced bismuth-antimony alloys, and passive HTSC branches from YBCO(-x)+silver cermets. The possibility of using passive branches in the form of HTSC films is discussed. Results of a single-stage, cryogenic, thermoelectric-cooler operation test are presented.
