Summary

THE THERMOELECTRIC PROPERTIES OF THE BISMUTH-TELLURIUM THERMOMODULES SOLD COMMERCIALLY ARE APPROXIMATELY THE SAME. THE PERFORMANCES OF THE THERMOMODULES ARE KNOWN FROM THE HOT AND COLD JUNCTION TEMPERATURES UNDER OPERATING CONDITIONS. BUT IT IS DIFFICULT FOR GENERAL USERS OR ENGINEERS INEXPERIENCED IN THERMOELECTRICS TO PREDICT THE JUNCTION TEMPERATURES. AND THE THERMOMODULES CAN BE EASILY DAMAGED BY IMPROPER ASSEMBLY OF THE COOLING UNITS. THE STANDARDIZED MULTI-PURPOSE THERMOELECTRIC COOLING UNITS ASSEMBLED UNDER QUALITY CONTROL STANDARDS CAN HELP MAKE THERMOELECTRIC COOLING MORE COMMON, BUT THE MARKET WILL BE LIMITED BECAUSE OF THE LIMITED COOLING CAPACITY, COP AND TELLURIUM RESOURCES. THE APPLICATIONS OF THERMOELECTRIC COOLING ARE DESCRIBED.
