CRYOGRINDING. A MATURE TECHNIQUE.
LE CRYOBROYAGE. UNE TECHNIQUE QUI A ATTEINT SA MAJORITE.
Author(s) : SCHOUTTETEN C., GIRARDON P.
Type of article: Article
Summary
ALMOST ALL ENERGY USED FOR GRINDING IS TRANSFORMED INTO HEAT DISSIPATED IN THE GRINDER AND THE PRODUCT PROCESSED AND THIS HAS SOME DRAWBACKS FOR GRINDINGAND THE PRODUCT. TO REMEDY THIS, COOLING IS NECESSARY AND THE USE OF LIQUID NITROGEN OFFERS NUMEROUS ADVANTAGES: ENERGY SAVING, PROTECTION OF THE PRODUCTS, SAFETY. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROCESS IS DESCRIBED. NITROGEN CONSUMPTION SHOULD BE OPTIMIZED: THE FINAL TEMPERATURE OF THE PRODUCT IS VERY IMPORTANT. THERE ARE NUMEROUS INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS: ELASTOMERS, THERMO-HARDENING POLYMERS, PHYTOSANITARY PRODUCTS, SPICES. J.L.
