CRYOSURGERY HAS NOW BECOME AN ALTERNATIVE TO CONVENTIONAL SURGERY FOR REDUCING OR ABLATING TUMOURS BECAUSE IT ENABLES THE CONTROLLED IN SITU DESTRUCTION OF TISSUES INSTEAD OF EMPLOYING SURGICAL EXCISION. IN VIEW OF ITS ABILITY TO PRODUCE AN ANTIGENIC STIMULUS (COMPARABLE TO THAT OBTAINED VIA THE PARENTERAL ADMINISTRATION OF AN ANTIGEN), CRYOSURGERY POSSESSES THE CAPACITY FOR AUGMENTING OR INDUCING IMMUNE RESPONSE BY THE HOST TO THE TUMOUR, HENCE IT IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THE INTERPHASE BETWEEN THESE TISSUES. THE RESULTING CRYOIMMUNOLOGICAL RESPONSE IS THE SUBJECT OF THIS STUDY.
