Summary
A new type of freezing container for the cryopreservation of human red blood cells is presented. This container shows an increased heat transfer resulting from direct contact between the freezing bag and the refrigerant. The results show that sufficiently high cooling rates of at least 200 K/min can be achieved with this container even in samples of 10 mm thickness.
