BY USE OF A MICROMINIATURE REFRIGERATOR, A SMALL AND INEXPENSIVE CRYOSTAT WAS CONSTRUCTED FOR THE PURPOSE OF MEASURING THE SPECULAR REFLECTANCE SPECTRUM OF SMALL SINGLE-CRYSTAL SPECIMENS WITH A MICROSPECTROPHOTOMETRIC TECHNIQUE. THE DESIGN OF THE CRYOSTAT SYSTEM AND ITS PERFORMANCE ARE DESCRIBED.
