Summary
Much less traumatizing for patients than conventional surgery, cryosurgery shortens hospital stays and speeds up convalescence. Its field of application is gradually and successfully being extended to new areas. The article gives a report on the state of the art as it appeared following the International Congress of Cryosurgery, a meeting of IIR Commission C1 (abstracts on sale at the IIR).
