Summary

A COMBINED TREATMENT USING CRYOSURGERY AND IMMEDIATE RADIOTHERAPY IS PROPOSED FOR THE TREATMENT OF CANCERS (STAGES B1, B2, C1), WITHOUT GANGLIONARY SPREAD OR METASTASIS, WITH A VIEW TO ERADICATION. RADIOTHERAPY REINFORCES THE ACTION OF CRYODESTRUCTION AND CONSTITUTES AN EFFICIENT TREATMENT OF THE PERIPHERY OF THE CAUDAL GLAND, WHICH IS MADE MORE VULNERABLE TO RADIOTHERAPY BY IMPORTANT SECONDARY HYPERVASCULARIZATION DUE TO CRYOSURGERY. THE RESULTS OBTAINED HAVE PROVED THAT THIS COMBINATION IS HIGHLY EFFICIENT. HOWEVER, AFTER THE TREATMENT THE OCCURRENCE OF CRYONECROSIS HAS REQUIRED A SECONDARY TRANSURETHRAL RESECTION IN A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF PATIENTS.
