Summary

THE TREATMENT OF 100 PATIENTS BY COMBINED CLOSED CRYOPROSTATECTOMY FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY A SHORT TRANSURETHRAL RESECTION OF THE CORE OF THE THAWING PROSTATIC TISSUE IS DESCRIBED. THE METHOD HAS PROVED OF VALUE IN THE CASE OF CERTAIN GROUPS OF PATIENTS AS ENUMERATED. ONLY UROLOGISTS WITH CRYOPROBE EXPERIENCE SHOULD USE THE METHOD. MATERIAL AND METHOD ARE DESCRIBED. PROCEDURE USUALLY TAKES 20 TO 30 MINUTES, PROBE TEMPERATURE USUALLY DROPS TO 77 K (-196 DEG C) FOR 3 TO 5 MINUTES WITH SLOW THAW AND POSSIBLY A REPEAT. C.R.F.
