Summary

METHODS OF SOLAR SHADING WILL REDUCE INSTANTANEOUS COOLING LOADS AND CAN SHOW CONSIDERABLE SAVING OF TOTAL BUILDING HEAT GAIN, AND THEREFORE ALLOW PLANT SIZE REDUCTION. AUTOMATIC CONTROLS CAN THEN MODULATE INTERNAL LIGHTS IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN THE REQUIRED ILLUMINATION LEVELS. THIS ANALYTICAL METHOD BALANCES THE COSTS OF USEFUL LIGHT AND SOLAR HEAT, TOGETHER WITH THE NECESSARY CONTROL SYSTEMS. SAVINGS ARE SIGNIFICANT IN PERIMETER ZONES. PAYBACK TIMES OF 1 TO 2 YEARS ARE POSSIBL A.R.T.
