Summary

A novel cold air diffuser - swirling cold air diffuser - was designed, and the experiment of this diffuser was conducted. The result shows that, with a total pressure of 24 Pa and a static pressure of 20 Pa, the induction ratio of the swirling cold air diffuser was 1.03 with low-resistance and low energy consumption. The maximum temperature difference in the tested room was 0.7°C at the plane surface and 0.4°C at the vertical surface. The range of wind velocity was 0.05-0.19 m/s and the mean wind velocity was 0.99 m/s. The air distribution performance index was 100%. In addition, the noise of the swirling cold air diffuser was 53.5 dB at the height of 1250 mm, 3 dB more than the local noise. The relative humidity of the air from the diffuser decreased by 10% and the surface of the diffuser had no condensate in the cold air conditioner.
