Design of localised ventilation.

Author(s) : MELIKOV A. K.

Summary

Large individual differences in physiological and psychological response exist between occupants of rooms in practice. Therefore, the total-volume air conditioning principles are not able to provide each occupant with acceptable thermal comfort and air quality. Environmental conditions acceptable for most of the occupants in a room may be achieved by providing each occupant with the possibility to generate and control his/her own preferred individual local environment. The design of localised ventilation based on air movement in the vicinity of the occupant and his/her response to the environment is discussed in this paper.
