Summary

The performances of water-lithium bromide absorption systems is improved when the temperature of the heating-motor fluid is raised and when the number of stages is increased. However, major corrosion problems are encountered at high temperatures. These obstacles to be overcome have led to the development of systems combining absorption with a low-temperature stage and systems making use of a chemical reaction in the upper stages. Theoretically, a better COP is achieved in such systems and no additional corrosion-related problems are encountered. Calculations concerning such a system are provided.
