Summary

This paper reports the development and evaluation of an air-conditioning system for individual chairs in classrooms. The authors developed a chair for classroom use in which the quality and efficiency of air-conditioning was improved by task/ambient air-conditioning. This chair has the double function of induction in the inside cover. This chair was developed with attention to thermal comfort, safety, maintenance and steadiness. The performance evaluation of this chair in a test chamber and the classroom had been actually introduced. This system evaluated by measurement of physical quantity and thermal-mannequin experiment using prototype model and final product of this chair. In cooling and heating operation, authors confirmed the comfort thermal environment.
