Summary

In the design and planning of solar cooling and free cooling systems simulation tools are required for a comparison of system versions. There are different tools on the market equipped with differential equation solvers which can be applied for this task. The special developed Polysun software offers modules of small scale solar thermal driven sorption cooling machines and electric driven compressor cooling machines. Based on two installations of solar thermal driven sorption systems for each a Polysun simulation template was set up and the result were compared with the measured data. The comparison shows a good coincidence of the energy yield of the collector field, cooling energy output of the absorption machine and the electric energy used. A lager deviation of the simulation results in the heat rejection power can be observed.
