Summary

Bovine follicular oocytes cultured in vitro for 24 hours were activated by exposure to low temperature (1 deg C) and the developmental potential of the oocytes was then assessed. About 10% of oocytes were parthenogenetically activated by exposure to low temperature. After exposure to low temperature and subsequent treatment with cycloheximide and cytochalasin D, 44.7 and 3.3% of activated oocytes cleaved and developed to blastocysts, respectively.
