Summary

THE AUTHORS HAVE DEVELOPED A NEW CELL FREEZING METHOD WITHOUT THE USE OF A COSTLY PROGRAMMING FREEZER AND CYTOTOXICAL CRYOPROTECTANTS. THE METHOD IS THE ULTRARAPID FREEZING OF CELLS BY INSTANTANEOUS CONTACT WITH HELIUM GAS. IN THE STUDY, 5 DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES CONSTITUTE THIS FREEZING METHOD: 1) MICRODROPPING METHOD ; 2) CAPILLARY TUBE METHOD ; 3) FLUSH METHOD ; 4) NEBULIZER METHOD ; AND 5) ULTRASONIC METHOD. THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS SHOW THAT CRYOPROTECTANT AGENTS ARE NOT ALWAYS NECESSARY FOR CELL CRYOPRESERVATION DEPENDING ON THE FREEZING METHOD. FOR MORE VIABLE THAWED CELLS, STILL MORE IMPROVEMENTS ARE NECESSARY.
