Development of vertical plate type absorbers.

Summary

Performances of novel plate type absorbers have been investigated both experimentally and using computer simulation. Two types of vertical plate absorbers were constructed. The temperatures of the lithium bromide aqueous solution, cooling water and heat transfer surface were measured. Refrigerating capacities were calculated from measurement results. Moreover, numerical calculations of the absorption process were conducted for a vertical flat plate absorber. Experimental results showed that the performances of novel vertical plate absorbers are significantly higher than those of conventional tube bundle type absorbers.
