THE PAPER OUTLINES A NUMBER OF AREAS WHERE MOISTURE MAY BE A PROBLEM. THE ALTERNATIVES OF REFRIGERATION AND ADSORBENT DEHUMIDIFICATION ARE DISCUSSED. NEW ADDITIONS TO REFRIGERANT SYSTEMS, SUCH AS SCROLL COMPRESSORS, VARIABLE FREQUENCY SPEED CONTROL, AND IMPROVED HUMIDITY DETECTORS ALLOW LOWER COST, MORE EFFICIENT DEHUMIDIFIERS TO BE USED. THESE MAY ALSO OPERATE AS STANDARDS AIR CONDITIONERS OR HEAT PUMPS DURING EXTREME TEMPERATURE SEASONS. ROTARY HEAT EXCHANGERS USING AN ADSORBENT PACKING ARE DISCUSSED AND SYSTEMS SUGGESTED FOR APPLICATIONS SUCH AS SWIMMING POOLS. D.W.H.
