Type of article: Article

Summary

DESCRIBES THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MICROCOMPUTER-BASED CONTROL SYSTEM FOR A HEAT PUMP CONTAINING AN ELECTRICAL VARIABLE SPEED COMPRESSOR DRIVE AND A MOTORISED EXPANSION VALVE. IT IS DESIGNEDTO OPERATE UNDER VERY VARIABLE LOADS WITH MINIMUM POWER CONSUMPTION. DESCRIBES HOW DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED DURING TESTS WERE OVERCOME BY A RELATIVELY SIMPLE REGULATOR CONFIGURATION. STATES THE SYSTEM OPERATES AT NEAR OPTIMUM EFFICIENCY BY REGULATING A TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE IN THE EVAPORATOR. (INT. BUILD. SERV. ABSTR., GB., 24, N 3, 1989/05-06, 89-00715.
