Summary

In the district heating and cooling system of block 3 in Nakanoshima, Osaka, thermal energy of river water is used to reduce the amount of CO2 emissions and to ease the heat island phenomenon. The effect of energy conservation by the river water system was evaluated by simulation, and found to be about 16%. Moreover, the effect of decrease in atmospheric heat rejection, the heat island load in summer of the river water system was quantified. As a result, the heat input from the atmosphere is larger than the heat rejection to the atmosphere.
