Summary

The contribution of new and worn bag filters to indoor pollution, has been determined in a laboratory by a trained panel of persons, as well as by measuring the total organic volatile compound content. The worn filters were all taken from air treatment systems which totally handled outdoor fresh air. The time spent by a worn filter in the ventilating system until it was removed and studied in the laboratory, varied from 2 to 10 months. The new filters did not pollute significantly as compared with worn filters; but all the worn filters pollute the air instead of making it healthier.
