Summary

THE ASHRAE STANDARD 62-1989 PROVIDES A METHOD OF ENSURING THAT INDOOR AIR WILL COMPLY WITH A SPECIFIED GRADE OF < FRESH AIR >. SEVERAL FACTORS ARE INVOLVED. THE AMBIENT < FRESH > AIR MAY BE OF LOWER QUALITY, AND THE EFFECTIVENESS OF VENTILATION AIR TO MIX WITHIN A SPACE AND DILUTE CONTAMINANTS MAY BE AS LOW AS 50 %. IT IS NECESSARY TO EVALUATE SOURCES OF CONTAMINANTS WITHIN THE TREATED AREA. FROM THESE FACTORS THE MINIMUM OUTSIDE AIR SUPPLY CAN BE CALCULATED. FILTRATION AND THE POSSIBLE USE OF CARBON ADSORBERS MAY BE REQUIRED TO DEAL WITH THE COMBINED PROBLEMS. THE STANDARD WILL PREDICT FILTER LIFE. A.R.T.
