Summary
A simulation model describing the transient behaviour of the refrigeration system in a domestic refrigerator is outlined. The model includes both the on-period and off-period and the movement of refrigerant between the condenser and the evaporator. The superheated area in the evaporator and subcooled area in the condenser is calculated from the instantaneous content of refrigerant in the respective places. Some results were validated against measurements carried out in a test chamber. A case study with a 325-liter refrigerator is presented.
