Summary

There is an international competition called Solar Decathlon, in which an energy-efficient house has to be constructed. The thermal habits of the house were examined and energy consumption data were also predicted. Special tests were performed for the time of the competition, and whole year was also analysed. The climatic data were of Madrid as the competition took place there. The modelling environment was MATLAB’s Simulink with a built-in module of Simscape. It is for especially examining thermal behaviours. MATLAB itself is capable of solving differential equations by time, for this reason dynamic simulations can be performed. First the building structure was created, and then the heatflows affecting the internal temperature were added. In this paper detailed process of creating the model is presented, and some results are discussed, including some possibilities of further improvements.
