Summary

THIS PAPER DESCRIBES THE HEAT TRANSFER PERFORMANCE OF A BINARY MIXTURE WHICH IS COMPOSED OF BOTH OIL (POLYOLESTER) AND FLUOROCARBON (R113). THIS BINARY MIXTURE IS USED FOR AN EVAPORATOR FOR A NEWLY DEVELOPED ENERGY RECOVERY POWER GENERATING SYSTEM. IN ORDER TO OBTAIN THE DESIGN DATA ON THE HEAT TRANSFER PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE EVAPORATOR IN THE NEW SYSTEM, POOL BOILING EXPERIMENTS WERE PERFORMED. HEAT FLUX WAS CHANGED FROM 5 TO 80 KILOW/M2 AND FLUOROCARBON CONCENTRATION OF MIXTURE FROM 50 TO 100 WEIGHT%. THESE DATA ARE DISCUSSED AND COMPARED WITH PUBLISHED RESULTS OF PURE LIQUID NUCLEATE BOILING HEAT TRANSFER.
