Summary
Lubricating oils will inevitably mix with refrigerants during the operation of refrigeration systems. A proper miscibility is necessary for good performance of air-conditioners, so that the effect of the miscibility on flow boiling heat transfer should be obtained. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect laws of miscibility on the flow boiling heat transfer and analyse the mechanism. Three types of oils including completely miscible oil, partially miscible oil, and completely immiscible oil are selected to reflect the miscibilities. A new experimental rig is carried out and test conditions are designed. The results show that the partially miscible oil has the best heat transfer performance because it would form an oil-poor layer, which may decrease the viscosity of the boundary layer and enhance heat transfer. Among three oils, partially miscible oil has the best flow boiling heat transfer characteristics, which should be developed in future.
