Summary

OVERSIZED CONTROL VALVES, COOLING COILS, AND CONTROL SYSTEM OFFSET CAN SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE THE WATER DEMAND OF THE SYSTEM. THIS ALSO PRODUCES DIFFICULT PROBLEMS IN MANAGING PUMPING EQUIPMENT. THE PAPER PRESENTS TWO IMPROVED CHILLED WATER COIL CONTROL SCHEMES DESIGNED TO ELIMINATE THE MAJORITY OF CONTROL OFFSET AND REDUCE WATER DEMAND TO THE MINIMUM. THE CONTROLS WERE APPLIED TO AN EXISTING BUILDING SYSTEM AND THE PERFORMANCE TEST RESULTS COMPARED TO THE PERFORMANCE OF THE ORIGINAL DESIGNED CONTROLS.
