Summary

Gerbera is the fifth famous cut flower in the international flower market. The storage technique for the cut Gerbera was studied. The post-storage quality and vase life were compared. The main quality parameters were tested as the fresh weight during the period of storage and vase life, span of the flowers and sensory evaluation value. The flowers stored at cold temperature for two or three days kept better quality with either dry storage or wet storage and the dry storage might have priority in use. The flowers stored at cold temperature for four days suffered significant loss in vase life and there was no difference in flower vase life between wet storage and dry storage. There was no evidence of chilling injury at 1°C and it was the suitable temperature for the storage of cut Gerbera.
