Type of article: Article

Summary

NUMERICAL STUDY OF THE UNSTEADY TWO-DIMENSION HEAT TRANSFER PROBLEM OF MELTING AROUND AN ISOTHERMALLY HEATED CYLINDER. A PHYSICAL MODEL IS INTRODUCED, ALLOWING FOR THE EFFECTS OF DENSITY CHANGE, SUBCOOLING AND NATURAL CONVECTION. DETAILED PREDICTION OF THESE EFFECTS AND DATA ON TEMPERATURE AND FLOW FIELDS ARE GIVEN FOR SIGNIFICANT VALUES OF STEFAN'S, RAYLEIGH'S AND PRANDTL'S NUMBERS. (Bibliogr. int.
