SOME PARTS OF BLADES IN THE NONUNIFORM FLOW THROUGH THE IMPELLER ARE EXPECTED TO WORK UNDER MORE UNFAVORABLE CONDITION THAN IN THE UNIFORM FLOW. AT THE FIRST STEP, THE FLOW BEHAVIOUR IN THE UNSTABLE OPERATING RANGE IS MEASURED, AND NEXT, INFORMATION ON STALL ONSET FOR EACH DISTORTION PATTERN IS CORRELATED TO THE LOCAL FLOW PARAMETERS. THE ROTATING STALL ONSET IS PROMOTED BY RADIAL DISTORTIONS AND RESTRAINED BY CIRCUMFERENTIAL DISTORTIONS.
