Summary

Two peaks of respiration and ethylene production were observed in cv Lu Hua 9 peaches stored at ambient temperature (30 deg C) and at low temperature (0-2 deg C). At low temperature, the rates of CO2 and ethylene production were lower and the respiratory climacteric was delayed. Application of paclobutrazol also lowered and delayed the peaks in the rates of respiration and ethylene production. Fruit calcium and proline concentrations significantly increased with paclobutrazol application, and nitrogen concentration and nitrogen-calcium ratio decreased.
