Empty and loaded tests of a double-compartment refrigerated semi-trailer.

Summary

Various tests were done on the ability of a double-compartment refrigerated semi-trailer to transport products properly at different temperatures (frozen food in the front, chilled food in the back). The two compartments were identical in volume. The semi-trailer was fitted with a refrigerating unit, one evaporator in the front compartment and two in the back compartment. Tests were carried out with numerous sensors on the empty vehicle and when the vehicle was loaded with chilled and frozen food. The results show that the mobile partition used for the tests was not sufficiently airtight. Various equipment is proposed for reducing the temperature dispersal in each compartment.
