Energy concept of a building in high latitude countries with regard to incident solar energy.

Number: pap. n. 224

Author(s) : CHWIEDUK D. A.

Summary

Based on mathematical models of solar radiation availability and dynamics of a building under changing weather conditions (for Warsaw), the simulation studies of fluctuations of energy balance of buildings throughout a year have been performed. Results show that in summer the overheating due to solar radiation incident on glazing and transmitted through them to the interior of a building, could be a real problem, even in high latitude countries. Recommendations for architecture and construction of a building in high latitude countries from a point of view of the energy consumption throughout a year are presented.
