Type of article: Article

Summary

AIR-TO-AIR SENSIBLE HEAT EXCHANGERS HAVE PROVED VIABLE FOR ENERGY RECOVERY FROM EXHAUST AIR IN AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS IN SOUTHERN AUSTRALIA, AND TOTAL HEAT UNITS SUITABLE FOR THE HUMID TROPICS HAVE RECENTLY BECOME COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE. SENSIBLE HEAT UNITS ARE BEGINNING TO BE USED IN SOUTHERN LOCATIONS IN REGENERATIVE EVAPORATIVE COOLING SYSTEMS, AND A METHOD OF EVALUATING THIS APPLICATION IS DESCRIBED. THE POSSIBILITY OF ADDING DEHUMIDIFICATION TO THESE SYSTEMS TO PROVIDE COOLING SYSTEMS FOR THE HUMID TROPICS IS INDICATED.
