Summary

THE PAPER DESCRIBES HOWA SOPHISTICATED ENERGY CONCEPT IN AN AUSTRIAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL WAS AUTOMATED. THE PLANT CONSISTS OF A HIGH-TEMPERATURE CIRCUIT AND A LOW-TEMPERATURE CIRCUIT. THE HIGH-TEMPERATURE CIRCUIT OBTAINS ITS HEAT FROM 2 BOILERS, ONE COGENERATIONPLANT, AND ONE STEAM/WATER HEAT EXCHANGER. THE LOW-TEMPERATURE CIRCUIT IS EQUIPPED WITH 3 REFRIGERATION MACHINES. THE RECOVERED HEAT IS USED FOR FLOOR HEATING AND DOMESTIC HOT WATER. STORAGE MANAGEMENT TAKES INTO CONSIDERATION A FORECAST FOR OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE AND DOMESTIC HOT WATER CONSUMPTION. THE DECISION TO RUN THE COGENERATION PLANT OR NOT DEPENDS ON A COST CALCULATION.
