Summary

THE NETHERLANDS ENERGY DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY (NEOM) STIMULATES ENERGY SAVING MEASURES BY, AMONG OTHERS, GRANTING FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS. AN EXAMPLE IS THE ARTIFICIAL ICE RINK AT ALKMAAR. THE LOW ENERGY PRICES OF TODAY MAY GIVE RISE TO PLAYING A WAITING GAME AS TO ENERGY SAVING MEASURES. COMPARATIVE DATA OF THE NETHERLANDS, GERMANY AND FRANCE SHOW THAT EXACTLY THE NETHERLANDS WILL BE VERY VULNERABLE AS TO INCREASING ENERGY PRICES.
