THE EFFECT OF THE THERMAL INERTIA OF STRUCTURES ON ENERGY CONSUMPTION, ACCORDING TO SEASONS AND TO DIFFERENT TYPES OF BUILDINGS, AND THE EFFECTS OF THE LOCATION OF MASSES AND THERMAL CAPACITIES IN PERIPHERAL AND INTERNAL AREAS OF BUILDINGS ARE STUDIED. THE AA. DISCUSS THE REQUIREMENTS TO BE MET IN THE DESIGN OF BUILDINGS IN ORDER TO OPTIMISE THE EFFECTS OF THE PASSIVE CONTROL OF TEMPERATURE AND OF ENERGY SAVINGS FOR RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS. GRAPHS SHOW THE VALUES OBTAINED WITH A MATHEMATICAL MODEL FOR STABILISED PERIODICAL OPERATION UNDER DIFFERENT EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL CONDITIONS.
