Summary
Since around the end of the nineties, most German experts have not been actively involved in European and German standard boards and working groups due to a lack of financial and personal capacities. Why should the German air-conditioning industry spend money and send experts to new standard projects, whilst there is a wide range of national standards within EN, DIN, VDI and VDMA which is hard to handle. In some cases the expert knowledge of designing engineers and manufacturers is daunted by the great variety of rules and standards.
