Summary

European standard En 442-2, approved in July 1995, introduced a method to set the traceability for measuring thermal output of heating appliances. The "test system" concept, including test installation and reference and transfer standards (called Master radiators) has been introduced to overcome all the existing discrepancies. Three reference standards of different thermal output for the whole of Europe are to be qualified, as well as three transfer standards for each national reference laboratory to give support to the accreditation bodies in the field of test installation calibration.
