BEFORE 1930 THERE WAS VERY LITTLE PUBLISHED DATA ON HEAT TRANSFER AND DESIGN WAS MAINLY EMPIRICAL. SINCE, MANY THEORIES HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED AND VALIDATED UNTIL NOW THE MOST COMPLICATED ITERATIVE SOLUTION CAN BE SOLVED BY COMPUTER. A SOUND ENGINEERING INTERPRETATION IS STILL REQUIRED. D.W.H.
